  • I just don't know how time is passing so quickly. I feel like I just updated this the other day, come to find out it was almost a month ago.

Levi is a jabbermouth.  I know I've said something similar in probably my last 3 updates but seriously, the kid is talking up a storm.  He's started to say "ummmmm..." before answering a question.  He has started understanding posession and using posessive contractions properly, like "Lukey's cup" and "Mommy's glasses" and "Daddy's shoes" which just amazes me.  For some reason he is really interested in the concept of "big" and likes to pick up hats, shoes, etc. that are too big on him and he will jabber this jumbled un-enunciated sentence ending with the exclamation of the word "big". For instance he'll pick up Luke's shoe and say, "Lukey's shoe!" and then hold it to his foot and go, "gababa memomemogabaa BIG!"

He also strings 3 words together pretty frequently now. "I got it!" and "Where are you" and "I see you".  And he answers questions pretty well if he has the right words to do so.  For instance he was screaming in his crib the other day so I went in and asked him where his binky was and without hesitation he said "Frowed it" :)  and lo and behold his binky was on the floor behind the rocking chair where he'd thrown it.

He also says "Tirsty" (thirsty), "MINE!" (funny, b/c 3-year old Luke still says "My's"), "messy", "dirty", "Stinky" and pretty much anything else he ever hears anyone say.  Pointing to a picture of Luke in which Luke has mud in his hair, Levi said "Lukey messy!"

Levi's latest fascination is with buckles on carseats, highchairs, and strollers.  We went to McDonald's playplace yesterday and for the last 15 minutes we were there he just kept doing the buckle on the highchair over and over, saying "off please" when he wanted me to undo it so he could buckle it again.

Luke is all about his tricycle lately.  If it isn't raining and isn't freezing he wants to be outside on his trike all the time.  Although we bought him a helmet the other day - one he picked out himself, with Thomas the Train on it - he is not fond of wearing it.  But it's the new rule, so he'll come around :)

He's been doing this a while, but I keep forgetting to write about it, and I definitely want to remember this when he's older:  Often, within 10-15 minutes of just having finished a huge meal, Luke will say, "Mommy. I am seriously, seriously hung-a-ry."  Where in the world he learned to put "seriously" in that sentence, I don't know, but it never fails to tickle me.  And obviously he's not actually hungry, having just eaten, but he always has something specific in mind that he wants.  In fact, his declaration of serious hunger is typically preceded by something like this: "Mommy, I want some chocko-lick."  Me: "Not right now, babe."  Which is then followed by:

Him: "But MOMMY! I am seriously, seriously hung-a-ry!"  Me:  "Well then, you can have a banana."  Him: "NOOO! I don't WANT a banana! I am seriously NOT even hung-a-ry!"

And this situation often repeats every 5 minutes or so until either I give in or he gives up or we negotiate.

I'm sure there's more to report with Luke but I'm having a post-lunch brain fart, so if I remember more later I will return and fill you in.

*Edited on 4/21/09 to add this:
Today in the car on the way home from Nonny's house, Luke and Levi had been singing a bunch of songs, including Row Row Row Your Boat.  Out of nowhere, Luke said, "Mommy, do crackers go in my butt?" I replied "No, crackers don't go in your butt, nothing goes in your butt. What in the world got you thinking about that?"  He didn't respond, and was quiet a few minutes.  Then as I was getting him out of the car, he said, "Does Life Cereal go in my butt?"  And I said, "No honey, Life cereal doesn't go in your butt, nothing goes in your butt."  And he said, seriously as can be "But Life is in my butt a dream!"

I might have died from laughter, but I tried to stay calm and tell him, "No honey, the song goes "life is but a dream."

I totally can see how that confused him though!  What a ham.

  • Hahaha i don't know why but the "seriously" being in there makes it sooooooooooooo funny.  Oh I gotta remember to teach my kids that one.  Get him to throw "random" in there sometime, that word is hysterical when it's overused/used wrong.
